Marchesa Luisa Casati was aeress, landlord, muse and poltrone. She adored art and she had legion of photographers, paintors and writers around her. Her unusual pets, decadent balls had become legend.

She was born in very rich Milan family, as the younger of two daughters. Her born affection for art was encouraged in early age while visiting galleries. He was very young when she lost her mother, at the age of 13, and two years after father. That tragedy made her and her sister the richest woman in Italy. Soon after that she will marry young noble man form Milan, Camillo Casati, and year after that they will have a girl.

The peaceful and predictable life was never for her, and in short time she meets her first lover, Italian writer, that was the beggining of life that marchesa will be famous for.

She was living the high life, traveling and buying the breathtaking villas in Paris, Venice and Capri. She was hosting decadent balls introducing and astonishing the elite of that time.  She liked to consider herself as living art so she was wearing the live snake around her neck as a jewelery, her pet panther used as inspiration to famous Cartier's panther. In her home in Paris she had a gallery of over 130 pictures. It is believed that she wanted to assure her self immortality with all those paintings and sculptures.
In 1930's she was in debt over 25 million dollars, all her goods were confiscated an auctioned, one of the bidders was Coco Chanel. There are two versions of the story how she spent the rest of her live, first: She lived with financial support of her children and loyal friends, and the second one is that she lived in misery and poverty for the rest of her life. This was a very short story, to find out more please visit web site www. marchesacasati.com

She still inspires lot of artists, so now she in an inspiration to Marchesa dresses, and John Galliano's 1998 collection... Let's take a look into that collection...
